Helambu, one of the beautiful Sherpa’s home town is placed on the northern side of Kathmandu valley in the distance of 75km. Helambu circuit trek, one of the most lovely and unique trek which is popular for apple production, tranquil environment and typical culture of Sherpa people of Helambu region. The Helembu trek only takes a week so it is ideal for the people who are restricted by the time for longer treks in Nepal during their visit. This trek offers breathtaking views which is take as a less crowded route of Nepal. The entire snow-capped mountains of Langtang, Annapurna and Manaslu ranges can be observed well on this trek.
Tarke Gyang, the largest beautiful Sherpa village is the main destination for most trekkers in this region. You can see the typical Sherpa houses and a very old Buddhist monastery along with the unique Sherpa culture. This beautiful village was entirely damaged due to the devastating earthquake 2015. But later the houses were rebuilt. They Speak Sherpa Language but their dialects are entirely distinct with that of Solukhumbu. It is the best place to take a rest day, and there’s the option of making a half day climb to the peak (3771m) directly north of the village. From the summit, you can see the superb views of the snow-capped mountain to the north. This trek is easy and suitable for family trekkers as well. It is easily accessible from Kathmandu which starts from Sundarijal and ends at the same place. The best season for this trek is September to December and February to May.
Brief itinerary:
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m)
Day 02: Full day Sightseeing in Kathmandu
Day 03: Kathmandu to Sundarijal by bus or private vehicle and trek to Chisapani (2,165m) 4/5 hours
Day 04: Chisapani to Gul Bhanjyang (2,130m) 5/6 hours
Day 05: Gul Bhanjyang to Tharepati (3,690m) 6/7 hours
Day 06: Tharepati to Melamchigaon (2,530m) 4/5 hours
Day 07: Melamchigaon to Tarke Gyang (2,600m) 4/5 hours
Day 08: Rest day
Day 09: Tarke Gyang to Sermathang (2,590m) 5/6 hours
Day 10: Sermathang to Melamchi Bazaar (870m) 5/6 hours
Day 11: Melamchi Bazaar to Kathmandu by bus or private vehicle 5/6 hours
Day 12: Free day in Kathmandu
