Nagarjun hill day hiking

Nagarjun Danda means Nagarjun hill which is the highest hill located near Kathmandu valley. It is a popular Buddhist pilgrimage site with a tranquil and fresh environment. There is a beautiful shrine and tower on the summit from where you can behold one of the valley's widest mountain panoramas, stretching all the way from the Annapurna to Langtang range. This national park was separated with Shivapuri national park a few years ago but later the government combined both in one national park. You have to pay some entry fees at the gate to do the hiking. Inside the national park, the Nagarjun Royal palace and a natural holey cave are situated. The natural holy cave is slightly damaged due to the devastating earthquake 2015 and banned to visit it for recent. The green and clean environment provide us fresh air while ascending and descending which gives us refreshment from the dusty and polluted environment of Kathmandu city.

It is the best destination for day hiker which starts from near Balaju bus station and ends at the same place. It is approximately two km away from the down town. The hike is two hours of upward and one and half hours of the downward walk on the moderate slope of Nagarjun Hills. You can see different sorts of flora and fauna along with the beautiful scenery of Kathmandu valley and panoramic views of Himalayas. This day hiking can be done at any time and season. It is suitable for everyone those who haven’t sufficient time in Nepal for longer trek and want to take the new test of short hiking during their short visit to Nepal.

Day 03: Drive to Balaju for day hiking to Nagarjun hill (2,128m) 4/5 hours
