Makalu Expedition
Makalu Expedition

Makalu, the world's fifth highest mountain is one of the most challenging expeditions for the mountaineers. It is a unique and a bit different from other mountains due to its pyramid shape with four sharp ridges. This beautiful and impressive mountain is located approximately 19 km south east of Mt. Everest on the border between Nepal and China. The name Makalu was derived from the Sanskrit word "Mahakala" which stands as the aggressive form of Lord Shiva. The trip commences from Tumlingtar after 45 minutes of scenic flight. The way goes through the lovely countryside with the dramatic views of snow-capped mountains, the life style of ethnic groups of the remote area along with different sorts of flora and fauna. It takes nine days of continuous walk from Tumlingtar to approach Makalu base camp. All the management regarding camp will be already fixed there by our base camp crew. After some days of acclimatization and pre climbing training at base camp, you will be pushed up for advanced base camp for further altitude training. We descend down base camp again and rest for few days. During these days, the climbing Sherpa will fix camp one, camp two, camp three and camp four along with rope fixing then we will set out for summit push when the weather goes okay. During summit push we will ascend up and climb down for the acclimatization at camp one, camp two and camp three. If the weather is favorable and everything goes fine with you, we will head up camp four for the ultimate summit.
