Langtang and Gosainkunda Trek
Langtang and Gosainkunda Trek

Gosainkunda, the famous and holy lake is located on the elevation of 4,470m in Rasuwa district. It is a prime pilgrimage both for Buddhist and Hindus that can be visited on the way to Helembu trek from Dhunche. Langtang Gosainkunda Lake trek is one of the most popular treks of Nepal which starts from Syabrubesi and ends at Dhunche. Different sorts of flora and fauna, breathtaking views of giant mountains, unique culture of Tamang and the beauty and stillness of nature can be observed. Being religious value, its waters are considered holy and of particular significance during the Gangadashahara and the Janai Purnima festivals when thousands of pilgrims from Nepal and India visit the area. Gosaikunda is believed to have been created by Lord Shiva when he thrust his Trishul (holy Trident) into a mountain to extract water so that he could cool his stinging throat after he had swallowed poison. There are three lakes namely, SaraswatiKunda, BhairaveKunda, and Gosainkunda. This trek can be done mainly August to June.
